The pilot data exchange project Moonshot demonstrates Colombia's strengths and the challenges it faces in overcoming developmental obstacles as it transitions to a sustainable, data-driven economy. In the report "Data for Common Purpose: Enabling Colombia’s Transition to a Data-Driven Economy,” the World Economic Forum Center for Industrial Revolution in Colombia discusses necessary facets of data marketplaces and essential steps in the country’s transition strategy:

  • Data forms the bedrock of any sustainable economy
  • Data exchange is guided by eight principles of a digital commons
  • Trust is fundamental in creating a data economy
  • Data valuation and ownership must be standardized
