The white paper “Data-Driven Economies: Foundations for our Common Future,” published by the World Economic Forum’s Data for Common Purposes Initiative, outlines a path to systems and governance models that can leverage data for the common good.
The report reminds that data holds the answers to multiple society’s pressing issues such as rare diseases, rising urbanization, maintaining oceanic health or making tourism sustainable.
The first of the paper's five requirements is to create partnerships via data exchange and data marketplaces. Counting these terms in the paper speaks volumes: "data exchange" occurs 45 times and "data marketplace" 59!
